The “Critical Monitoring & Response for ICU Nurses (CARE-ICU)” program was successfully conducted on 27 May 2025 at Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, UPM. This event was jointly organised by the Malaysian Society of Intensive Care (MSIC) and the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, HSAAS UPM.

The program aimed to strengthen the clinical competencies of ICU nurses by focusing on early detection, monitoring techniques, and effective response in intensive care settings. A total of 97 nurses from various institutions including Ministry of Health, university teaching hospitals, and private healthcare facilities nationwide participated in this program. Invited speakers includes intensivist Dr Siti Rohayah Sulaiman (HRPB Ipoh), Dr Nahla Irtiza binti Ismail (Hospital Melaka), Dr Lavitha Vyveganathan (HSI Johor Bahru) and Dr Aizad Azahar (HSAAS, UPM).

The day-long event featured a combination of lectures, skill stations, and case discussions aimed at elevating the standards of intensive care nursing in Malaysia. The program received much positive feedbacks from the participants as skill courses specially catered for intensive care nurses and even other nurses that are involved in critical care is not commonly available in Malaysia.
